Kathleen Ramirez is a Texas-based artist and works primarily in printmaking and light installation. She received her BA in Art - Printmaking from the University of Dallas.

 

Kathleen's work explores the human mind, consciousness, and experience through light, color, and contrasts. She is particularly interested in the human attraction to light and uses it as a universal language in her work. Precision, problem solving, and attention to detail are paramount to her work method.

 

Art education has played an important role in Kathleen's career. She currently serves as a certified juror for the Texas Art Education Association, anually jurying student work in the DFW area. She also works for two non-profit all-girl's week-long summer camps, serving as Art Director for Camp Cedar Sage, and as an art instructor for Camp Bluebonnet for five years. She currently works as a Learning Support Instructor for Mother of Divine Grace School, teaches elementary-level art at a local co-op, and provides art lessons via private tutoring.

 

Kathleen also works as a freelance illustrator and has illustrated three published books, including her own book The Color Thief, which received thClodēcott Honor Medal.

 

While fine art continues to be Kathleen's specialty, she occasionally works with videography and editing, particularly for advertisements and publicity which have benefited many clubs and organizations at the University of Dallas and some non-profits. Other hobbies include animation, storyboarding, character design, and cinematography.

 

Kathleen currently serves as Chair of Programs for the Texas Visual Arts Association (TVAA), and is an active member member of the Irving Art Association (IAA).
